As always, the seaÂson kicks off with New York FashÂion Week, showÂcasÂing colÂlecÂtions from fashÂion giants such as Alaïa and Ralph LauÂren, as well as up and comÂing designÂers. Here are 6 key moments to take away from the week of AmerÂiÂcan fashion.

Alaïa Showcased Sculptural Silhouettes
FitÂtingÂly showÂcased at the GuggenÂheim was the fashÂion houseÂ’s SS25 colÂlecÂtion, showÂcasÂing strucÂtured silÂhouÂettes resemÂbling sculpÂturÂal pieces of art. The designÂer took influÂence from AmerÂiÂcan fashÂion, such as HalÂston’s jerÂseys and Charles James’ puffer jackÂet. The colÂlecÂtion is a clever mergÂing of Parisian and AmerÂiÂcan influÂence, the result being timeÂless yet curÂrent, effortÂless yet complex.
Alexa Chung made her New York Fashion Week Debut at Tory Burch
The modÂel and creÂative Alexa Chung walked her first show at New York FashÂion Week, at none othÂer then Tory Burch. The show took place in a set that had been designed to feel like a swimÂming pool, with aqua tiles covÂerÂing the walls and floors. To comÂpliÂment this, the modÂels wore clothÂing with an athÂleisure tone, minÂiÂmal in style and playÂful in fit, such as AlexÂa’s wide waistÂed skirt. The Paris Olympics had clearÂly had a creÂative influÂence on Burch, as she conÂtinÂues to push sportiÂness into next spring.

Ralph Lauren Showcased One Of Their Most Minimal Collection Yet
HowÂevÂer the minÂiÂmalÂist designs remain aligned with the all AmerÂiÂcan brand aesÂthetÂic we know so well, with AmerÂiÂcan flags stitched into knitwear and the polo logo dawned across woven tote bags. Despite the colÂlecÂtion being more toned down than usuÂal, the show itself didÂn’t hold back on grandeur and flare. It was held at a 19-acre horse farm in BridgeÂhampÂton, lined with vinÂtage cars and with a star-studÂded guest list.
Models Somersaulted Down the Runway at Collina Strada
By now we know that no ColÂliÂna StraÂda show is withÂout perÂsonÂalÂiÂty and fun, and this seaÂson we saw modÂels mowÂing grass as they walked down the runÂway, and othÂer somÂerÂsaultÂing their way down through the crowd. The romanÂtic style of clothÂing dorned with rufÂfles, pasÂtel prints, checks and stripes, added a sense of innoÂcence to the fun of the show. The brand once again teachÂes us that fashÂion doesÂn’t need to be so seriÂous, and can still be beautiful.

KHAITE Showcased a ‘Warmer, Earthier’ Collection
Known for her edgy and strong colÂlecÂtions, with sleek taiÂlorÂing and a wearÂable minÂiÂmalÂism, designÂer CatherÂine HolÂstein has takÂen a warmer, earthÂiÂer route for her SS25 colÂlecÂtion. With organÂza in abunÂdance, floÂral embellÂished skirts, and a soft colour palÂlette that trickÂles through, a lighter and airiÂer feelÂing is undeÂniÂable comÂpared to preÂviÂous KHAITE colÂlecÂtions. HowÂevÂer, the notoÂriÂousÂly strong, edgiÂer feel of the brand that we all know and love hasÂn’t gone comÂpleteÂly amiss, as strong shoulÂder lines, cropped blazÂers and black leather proÂvide balance.
Designer Kate Barton Debuted Her First Fashion Show
A SCAD gradÂuÂate and one of the new talÂents to watch, Kate BarÂton showÂcased her debut colÂlecÂtion at New York FashÂion Week, among some of the fashÂion giants. Her clever use of mateÂrÂiÂal, mouldÂing around the body in a sleek yet conÂstructÂed manÂner, demonÂstrate the designÂers artistry and creÂative talÂent. This impresÂsive colÂlecÂtion set the tone for the brands whimÂsiÂcal world buildÂing, and we are excitÂed to see where the designÂer will next take her ideas.
